The municipality has an Active Military Service, where young soldiers serve 24 months in different units of the territory, such as the Base Aérea, La Cañada, Carretera del Cañón, among others in the province of Artemisa.

The EJT members work in the productive area, mainly agriculture, during the usual previous stage, and then become part of these units. They are paid, although they must comply with regulations and schedules like any military unit.

According to Captain Carlos Clemente Yero Souto, from the Ariguanabo Military Committee, the objective of the Youth Labor Army is to produce food for the agricultural markets, establishing affordable prices for the population.

In the territory, the EJT Hortícola Farm was recognized during the last tour of the National Urban, Suburban and Family Agriculture Group for its excellent results.
