If I mentioned social indiscipline, it might seem boring. It may be, and if you have already thought about it, I do not blame you. The list would be extensive and my agenda would run out of writing down ideas, with examples to be discussed. The media and journalists, month after month, have something to say about it. If you talk to someone, surely this topic does not escape. Then comes the fact that Cubans are good in theory, but bad in practice.
The matter I bring may seem very simple. Surely a photo in the newspaper will solve the situation, but that is not the case. My proposal is directed to the responsibility we all have regarding the protection of the environment. In the long run the unhealthiness affects our health. According to recent studies, bacteria, fungi and viruses seem to be more insightful than us. They continue to mutate to become resistant to antibiotics, and we provide them with the means to grow.
Do not you believe me? I tell you ... A few days ago, I was several times at the famous bus stop of La Ceiba, in San Antonio de los Baños. The place, a point of departure and return of buses with destinations to other municipalities and the provinces of Mayabeque and Havana, is deplorable. The bus stop, remodeled recently, is already dirty. The majestic Ceiba has lost its space. Knobs, cartons, papers and wrappers look like a dump. If this tree could speak, it would request to be transplanted. Now the air becomes fetid, because the religious offerings of coconuts and eggs increase. It is also usual to see the remains of dead or slaughtered animals. A sad reality for the Ceiba that purifies our air. The sacred tree -par excellence of the Yoruba-, where the dead are fed, has to pay a high price because a Saint, who calls the spirits and all the souls, is sitting on top of the tree. She gives us life and we kill her slowly.
The solution is not only of the Communal Services and the Administration Council. It is time to think and act responsibly so that our La Ceiba bus stop has a better face. The solution is also in our hands.
