He is the father that everyone wants to have, even though ours is unique in the world. I say this, because he is still alive and vigilant as a servant of a better Cuba ... He remains there from above, contemplating how his children grow, in spite of the pain latent after his departure. Fidel is another of our parents; he showed it so many times that today it would be impossible not to remember him, when the whole world embraces the creators of dreams.
While I try to describe his greatness to understand the meaning of his essence, I see him embrace Aleida Guevara March as a child; Fidel was his second father. In a testimony, Aleida confesses that after reading Che's farewell letter, in which he said: "a big kiss from Dad," her daughter's heart stopped, but it beat again because she was not alone ... Guevara's friend it became closer and closer, necessary and timely. There began the great story of two families, soon after converted into one family: the family of the Revolution.
I imagine his simple words, warm and full of magic, trying to calm two little girls who had just known about the loss of their father. They would never be alone again because they were the daughters of the Fatherland, and their tears would calm down. Aleida remembers him saying: "when someone dies as he wants, they should not suffer for him" ... therefore they knew that their Dad Che left pleased, after fulfilling the duty. Years passed and they grew. In spite of the emptiness they felt, this man, fit for any circumstance, filled with affection the heart of their afflicted souls.
Apparently it was not enough for Fidel, just at the end of the 19th century, his protective instinct was emerging again under different circumstances, but equally sad. Once again, it was his duty to assume the role of father so that the child Elián González returned safely home.
"I came from a place, where they told me horrors about Fidel, and in another place my Dad told me about a friend who had joined us. I wanted to meet that man. He did not meet me at the airport and saw me at the end of the first grade. Fidel entered a room and inhaled all the air. He had a particular way of creating complicity with people ... he instantly became my friend, "Elián González said in an interview offered to a journalist from the Matanzas Telecentre.
"He gave me a box with chocolates and the book '' La Edad de Oro ''. Then he said: be careful, do not read the chocolates and eat the book. Thus, he broke the ice and began to be the father, without ceasing to be a friend; the father to whom I wanted to show everything I achieved so that he would be proud of me. Although there were many things that I wanted to show you ... "
That was Fidel, the man who knew how to conquer his people, his children. His love, wrapped in the grace, simplicity and wisdom of his person, led millions of Cubans on the path of gratitude, which we do not intend to receive, but we are forced to profess.
Once, the Apostle asked: "What clouds are more beautiful in the sky than those that gather, wave and ascend in the soul of a father who looks at his son?"; and today we already understand what or who shines near that sky. His name is Fidel Castro ... the father of the grateful.
