On September 21, 1916, Luz del Oeste Masonic Lodge was inaugurated in Alquízar. The founders were carefully selected within the Alquizar society.
Luz del Oeste Masonic Lodge promotes fraternity in the valleys of Alquízar. Its members have devoted themselves to encouraging love for study and work, as well as to spread the culture and the full exercise of morality. One of them was Jorge Jorge del Toro, who excelled in Philosophical Masonry for his wide culture. Antero Cárdenas was the irreplaceable speaker of that workshop. In his dissertations he managed to captivate the audience with his metaphors. His words drew images in the minds of those who listened to him. Chirino, from Vereda, effectively served as a Venerable Master of the Alquizar Lodge. Simplicio Díaz, also from Vereda, held a position on the board of that Lodge, serving for several years as a treasurer.
Members of the Masonic Lodge, with a tenacious work, were the brothers Capote, Méndez, Amaro, Lázaro, Delfín and others, whose names are examples for their work in the Masonic fraternity. Matías worked in the Secretariat with an exquisite work. Hojas Barbon spread the message of love and peace of his mother Lodge, in the workshops of the Masonic jurisdiction. Many men marked the life of Alquizar from the Masonry.
