The relations between Cuba and the United States is a controversial issue that has been affected, deteriorated and manipulated by an evil that has become irrevocable: the economic, commercial and financial blockade that punishes millions of Cubans, based on feelings of domination, intolerance and ideological and political revenge on the part of the governments that mark the history of the great American power.
The United States blockade against Cuba affects the bilateral relations between these two peoples, because it goes beyond disrespect, individual benefit and sovereign inequality.
How to consolidate a good relationship?... when Cuban patients are deprived of a drug because it is produced in the United States. The news that 224 people died in Cuba in 2017 because they do not have this treatment, is alarming.
On the other hand, the blockade is the main obstacle to the circulation of information and a greater access to Internet and technologies by Cubans. It also hinders cultural, academic, scientific, sports and civil society links.
The American government, with incredible pretexts and real political motivations, fails to comply with the number of immigrant visas for Cubans, stipulated in the current migratory agreements, which makes family reunification difficult. The blockade constitutes a systematic violation of the human rights of Cubans and at the same time is an essential impediment to the aspirations of well-being and prosperity of several generations.
Many of these issues were proclaimed by Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla before the UN General Assembly, where he also said that the blockade is a violation of the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations and International Law, for therefore, an act of aggression and economic war that breaks peace and international order.
All these criteria, based on real facts about the Cuba-United States-Blockade trilogy, are enough to explain to a 10-year-old child why there is so much enmity between these two peoples. Although, it is a little difficult to understand the magnitude of the repudiation and intolerance of the Cuban people towards that dehumanized northern neighbor, who for so many years tries, without success, to block us with his prejudiced doctrine.
