The workers of the Anti-vector Campaign in San Antonio de los Baños undertake preventive measures aimed at reducing the proliferation of the Aedes Aegypti mosquito.
The incorporation of the campaign worker into the basic health group allows the systematic control and implementation of health promotion and prevention actions in the community, according to Arelis Guiver Ruiz, head of the Hygiene and Epidemiology Unit in San Antonio de los Baños
The campaign workers apply biolarvacides to water containers in all homes and communal areas and carry out various cycles of home-to-home fumigation. The most affected areas correspond to the East and West Urban, as well as the Central. The health authorities advocate for the support of the population in this campaign.
Local authorities control and supervise the work of the Anti-vector Campaign, with the objective of preventing the spread of viruses transmitted by the aedes aegypti mosquito (including zika, dengue, chikungunya and yellow fever). They also raise awareness in the population to eliminate possible mosquitoes breeding sites, both inside and outside homes.
