Twinning

The Directorate of Science, Technology and Environment (CITMA) in the province of Artemisa twinned with the Ariguanabo Martí Forest, an emblematic site of this Villa due to its natural and historical values. The meeting began with the accurate words of the creator and historian of the Forest, Rafael Rodríguez Ortiz, Felo. During the talk, he referred to the trees we find in this place, the actions undertaken to reproduce different species, the monumental stones and the "Plaza del concepto" to be inaugurated in November with concepts such as Revolution, Youth and Planting; the latter created by Felo.

Felo also highlighted the preparations to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the beginning of the Independence Wars on October 10, with the restoration of the route of José Martí and Máximo Gómez from Playitas de Cajobabo to Dos Ríos.

The participants, led by Orlando Díaz Darias, director of the provincial CITMA, highlighted the love with which the forest was created, the ecological and educational work with the students, as well as the actions aimed at protecting the soil. The director stressed the importance of generalizing the experience of the Martí Forest to other municipalities, not only for the protection of nature but to rescue historical and educational values; he also described the forest as a treasure of knowledge.

The tour, which included the ''Callejón del sembrador'', the monument to the woman and the Granma yacht, the representation of Cinco Palmas and the Monument to America, concluded with the planting of a pine brought by the representatives of provincial CITMA. The sowing of this species represents the speech ''Los pinos nuevos'' by Martí to teach the new generations to love nature.

The twinning between the provincial CITMA and the Martí Forest is an important event within the history of the institution. The members of the delegation promised to return every September 29 to reaffirm the established link.
