The orderly and massive use of information and communication technologies (ICTs) in everyday life, aimed at meeting the needs of society, is the process of society computerization; a recurrent strategy assumed by the Cuban state demonstrating its political will to guarantee efficiency, productivity and excellence.
For underdeveloped countries, it is a challenge to achieve this purpose, however, currently several programs facilitate our society to move towards the so-called "digital age". In San Antonio de los Baños, the computerization progresses: (projections to expand 3G base stations, magnetic cards, banking services via mobile phones with Android operating system, as well as the work of the Computation & Electronics Youth Club (Joven Club) , by facilitating good management of technologies and the customer contact with national sites and the internet.
Within the advance of computerization, the position of the government of the United States is not limited to creating subversive campaigns. Some time ago, according to media reports, secret programs were revealed to promote actions aimed at studying and identifying people who could become "agents of change", and thus generate counterrevolutionary events against Cuban artists. Young people are the most vulnerable group in terms of computerization. The lack of digital culture brings serious consequences, so it is necessary to create educational channels with the aim of promoting the proper use of technologies and social networks.
Computerizing is synonymous with achieving efficiency and effectiveness in all processes that generate wealth and increase the quality of life of citizens. We still have a long way to go, but Cuba has shown its timely inclusion in order to strengthen sustainable development. Being aware will take us to that coexistence with the "new world" and the "new man" that the future Information Society demands.
