The popular consultation process on the Draft Constitution began in San Antonio de los Baños. The debates were presided over by Juan Alberto Rodríguez Linares, first secretary of the Municipal Party Committee, Alina Echeverría Sánchez and Javier Montero Ruiz, officials of the organization at the provincial level, while the duo responsible for the pilot exercise was Maribel Bravo David, member of the Municipal Bureau of the PCC, who is in charge of the political-ideological sphere, and the lawyer Acorita Muñiz Raguer.
Leaders of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), the Young Communists League (UJC), The Cuban Workers Federation (CTC), the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC), the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR) and the National Association of Small Farmers (ANAP) reaffirmed Article 3- paragraph 32, where it is recognized that the defense of the socialist homeland is the supreme duty and the greatest honor of each citizen.
"This exercise will be taken to the student, labor, neighborhood and community centers, which demonstrates once again the true democracy in Cuba. We must be aware of the commitment implied by the new Magna Carta and its historical-political significance for the future of the Revolution and the strengthening of socialism, "said Bravo David.
Acorita Muñiz explained that the Constitution regulates general contents that lead to others, which are about to be updated. In addition, she insisted that it is a text that deserves respect and stability, therefore we are all protagonists within this process.
