Say no to drugs

Drugs are plant, mineral or animal substances that have stimulant, hallucinogenic, narcotic or depressing effects. Soft drugs are those that have a low addictive degree, such as cannabis, while a hard drug is strongly addictive (cocaine and heroin).

There is a lot of information about its effects on the organism. When inhaled, injected or consumed orally, they reach the brain and other organs of the body instantaneously, causing serious damage. The brain is one of the most affected organs because they alter its chemical functioning and its structure, causing permanent damage.

The abuse of alcohol irreversibly destroys the areas of memory (hippocampus), the cerebellum (which controls coordination) and the cerebral cortex. Marijuana can affect concentration and short-term memory, while increasing the risk of psychotic disorder in someone who already has the propensity. Cocaine floods the brain with dopamine, accelerates the heart, increases the risk of heart attack and can cause anxiety and paranoia. In the case of Ecstasy and MDMA, serotonin makes us happy, confident and sociable, but in its absence it leads to depression and anxiety. Hallucinogens (LSD and psychobiscin) distort perception, effects are unpredictable and last up to 12 hours; these drugs can lead to psychosis and risky behaviors. In addition to this brain damage, other substances also cause progressive damage to other organs, for example, tobacco smoke clogs the arteries.

These substances, instead of benefiting our health, end with our life in an undefined time, because it depends on the frequency of consumption. However, we must reflect carefully, if we want to live with quality, we must be able to renounce drugs.
