The National Association of Economists and Accountants of Cuba (ANEC) is a voluntary affiliation that has among its main objectives to associate professionals of the Economic Sciences and enhance their participation in the economic and social development of the country.
In San Antonio de los Baños economists work in favor of local development. According to the president of the ANEC, Marta Silvia Díaz Jaime, the territory has 220 members grouped into 21 sections, located in the main economic centers of the municipality. To support local development, economists carry out research aimed at finding solutions to social problems related to school institutions, transportation and environmental issues, among others, based on economic studies and analyzes.
A vital aspect is the professional training of the ANEC members, as a way to safeguard the interests and professional and social rights of its members. In this way, they contribute to preserve and spread the values of Cuban and universal economic thought. Economists participate in updating economic issues such as internal control and analysis of the financial situation.
Díaz Jaime added that the research carried out by the workers of the Agricultural Enterprise will participate in the Third International Congress on Economic Management and Development, to be held from May 29 to June 1, 2018, in Havana. At the meeting, different topics will be addressed such as the role of Financial and Management Accounting, as well as the International Financial Reporting Standards, in order to strengthen the impact of economic management on sustainable and socially responsible development.
