World Africa Day

World Africa Day is celebrated every May 25 around the world. Warm colors, animal symbols and African beliefs seem to stand out after the Organization for African Unity was created in 1963 - today African Union.

The African Union seeks to promote unity and solidarity among the states of this region, which devotes a large part of its efforts to work and combat the serious deficiencies that affect the majority of the population of the African continent and invites reflection on the challenges it faces and the role of the states to confront them.

The celebration is an important occasion to reflect on the progress and the transformations that have taken place, as well as the problems that hinder the development of the region, such as war, inequality, famine and corruption, among others. Also, this day has become a national holiday in many states where the union of peoples, their liberation and, "Africanness" is commemorated.
