The Lazaro Peña Tobacco Enterprise, located in San Antonio de los Baños, Artemisa, works to raise the workers' quality of life.
At the proposal of the Vice President of the Councils of State and Ministers of Cuba, José Ramón Machado Ventura, and approved by the National Housing and Investment Directorates, the former Pre-University Institute ''Primer Partido Comunista de Cuba'' is being transformed for the construction of 80 apartments for the workers of the Basic Units of Cooperativa Production Capitán San Luis and Antonio Briones Montoto. With more than three and a half million pesos, several locations will be adapted to provide services, including a Mixed Educational Center, a Family Doctor's Office and a Childcare Center.
There have been no difficulties with raw materials and the existing workforce is striving to complete the work in tribute to the National Rebellion Day, to be held on July 26. According to the deputy director of the company, Rogelio Umoa Cabrera, these actions are aimed at achieving stability in terms of work force of the tobacco campaigns and thus achieve satisfactory results.
