The Federation of Cuban Women (FMC) in San Antonio de los Baños plays an important role in the defense of women's rights.
Belkis Rodríguez Hernández, secretary of the FMC in the municipality, said that females have the right to be independent from the economic point of view, by opting for training courses taught by specialists in different subjects at the headquarters of the organization; among them, Body Massage, Makeup and Hairdressing, Executive Secretary. These courses allow women to get knowledge about these specialties; if they are not linked to work, they can join a work center. Those women, victims of intrafamily violence, can visit the Women and Family Guidance House, where they will receive the support of the activists.
Another important aspect that highlights the role of the organization in the defense of women's rights is the encouragement for the active participation and training of women at all levels.
