The guarantee of the future

''I feel its freshness again
slowly between my fingers
the clear water is passing by.
While it runs off, I think
in the happiness that it lavishes,
in the life I owe it.''

These are fragments of the poem ''Romance del agua buena'' (Romance of the good water), by the Cuban writer Josefina Díaz Estralgo, referring to that vital liquid, so necessary for humanity.

Water is essential for sustainable development. Water resources play a key role in reducing poverty, economic growth and environmental sustainability. Due to the usefulness of this natural element, World Water Day is celebrated on March 22, with the aim of developing actions to raise awareness among the population on the conservation and development of water resources. Water provides countless benefits, but it is not always used rationally. There is a problem; the solution is in our hands.

Saving does not mean depriving us of water. Saving is synonymous with reserving, rationalizing, or not wasting. In Cuba, government authorities are making efforts to guarantee water supply. I consider that, more than a simple reason, saving should be an individual and collective commitment. Taking care of what we have is the guarantee of the future.
