Born in Arroyo Naranjo, on May 8, 1944, Juan Alejo Triana Díaz lived much of his life in the Villa del Ariguanabo. He attended primary and secondary studies in Havana and joined the educational tasks of the triumphant Revolution. He graduated as a Primary Teacher in 1966 and as a Secondary School Teacher in 1980. Seven years later, he completed his Bachelor of Education, in the specialty of History and Social Sciences.
He was a member of the Association of Young Rebels, the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution, the Communist Party and the Territorial Troops Militias. In 1961, during the Literacy Campaign, he fulfilled the honorable mission of replacing volunteer teacher Conrado Benítez García in the Escambray mountains. Later he was selected as professor of History at the Teacher Training School of Minas de Frío, in the Sierra Maestra.
Belonging to the Vanguard Teachers Brigade Frank País García, he held different positions in the education sector in the provinces of Oriente and La Habana. In 1977, he served as Municipal Director of Education in San Antonio de los Baños and in the eighties as inspector of the Provincial Directorate of Education. As head of the Department of Educational Scientific Management in the Higher Pedagogical Institute Rubén Martínez Villena collaborated in the training of the leaders.
Triana Díaz was awarded several recognitions: Commemorative Medal for The Cuban Literacy Campaign, Commemorative Medal for the 40th Anniversary of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR), José Tey Medal, the Distinction for Cuban Education and the National Vanguard category in 1988. The greatest recognition received was the respect and affection of the ariguanabense people who welcomed him as a son.
