International health cooperation is a distinctive feature that characterizes the ariguanabenses. San Antonio de los Baños has more than 70 health collaborators who provide health services in 13 countries.
In nations such as Jamaica, Guatemala, Angola and Algeria, Cuban health professionals of different specialties are received (health technicians, stomatologists, specialists in Comprehensive General Medicine...), both in primary and secondary health care. The Ariguanabese doctors who collaborate in Algeria, Africa, provide several health services: maternal-child health service, ophthalmology and cardiology, among others, as part of the bilateral health cooperation agreement.
Solidarity in the health sector enhances altruism, dedication and humanism, by providing medical services to places of difficult access and to human beings who have never had access to a doctor. Today, reality is different; these doctors of life, dressed in their white coats, sow the hope that "a better world is possible."
