San Antonio de los Baños, Artemisa, Cuba.- Exercising the right to vote, a genuine reflection of democracy, is our commitment to the Homeland. From early in the morning, the ariguanabenses arrived at the polling stations to elect the delegates to the Provincial Assembly of People's Power and the deputies to the Cuban Parliament (605 deputies) (1 265 delegates).
The Municipal Electoral Commission receives the reports from each electoral college to register the information, allowing the electoral commissions to validate the results to be released when the voting concludes. As usual, in San Antonio de los Baños pioneers and young people support the electoral process.
In the municipality there are ninety-seven polling stations, in which the ariguanabense have the right to exercise their vote. Workers from other provinces, students of the MININT School "Santiago Figueroa" and soldiers of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR) choose their future representatives in different constituencies of the territory. Health care workers of the General Teaching Hospital Iván Portuondo also exercise their right to vote at Domingo Lence Novo Primary School, which is located near the health institution.
Polling station No 1, Constituency 15, maintains good voter assistance. A member of the polling station and a pioneer take the ballots to those who are unable to vote for medical problems. This is a successful task of the Cuban electoral process, where all citizens have the possibility of exercising their right to vote. This polling station has a large representation of the José Martí Pioneers Organization as collaborators during the elections.
(Zone 38, Constituency 26), a great female representation participates in these elections. 99 percent of the members of the two polling station are women, one of them representing the ariguanabense youth. According to Olga Lidia Aguilera Diaz, President of the aforementioned district, not even the time change decreased the attendance to the polling stations.
Polling station No 1, Constituency 2, opened its doors at the scheduled time, presided over by Belkis Díaz Suárez, president of the district. This electoral college has the characteristic that all its members are women, who guarantee the good performance of the election process. This peculiarity shows how the members of the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC) represent an essential pillar for the Revolution in this electoral process.
Five women are candidates in San Antonio de los Baños, three delegates to the Provincial Assembly and two deputies to the National Assembly. Women with names and faces we know exchange with us, go through the town with us and assume the principles of the Revolution. Yamila Sarduy, Yadelkis Hernandez Morales, Katia Alonso Hernandez, Juana Maria Paez and Yarelis Centero have the applause of the women of San Antonio de los Baños.
