Daycare centers maintain a stable job to enhance the affective development and learning of preschool-age children, according to Idania Rodríguez González, methodologist for Early Childhood in the Municipal Directorate of Education, in San Antonio de los Baños.
According to the official, 6 daycare centers operate in the municipality, organized by cycles and years of life. The organization of the pedagogical work by cycles allows the educator to have a longer working time to achieve children's development. The organization by cycles is logically related to the objectives and content of the programs, also to the methods, means and ways of organizing and directing the different types of activity.
Rodríguez González said that the preschool age is a fundamental stage in the development of the child's personality. Several studies show that in this period the foundations are laid for children's development, abilities and personal qualities, as well as the formation of their character. For this reason, in educational institutions of pre-school education, learning is promoted in different areas of knowledge and development, such as: socio-moral development, motor skills, world knowledge, mother tongue, plastic expression, music, body expression and game.
The methodologist also pointed out: ''According to the inspections carried out in different daycare centers of the territory, compliance with the basic tasks of Preschool Education has been verified, which consist of achieving the development of all the children's possibilities, according to the particularities of the stage, as well as providing them with the necessary preparation for a successful school learning. All the people involved in this process, that is, educators, nurses, speech therapists and psycho-pedagogues, fulfill their functions. ''
