San Antonio present at the Scientific Meeting on Library Science

The graduate Maricela Corvo de Armas, worker of the municipal library of San Antonio de los Baños participated at the XVI National Scientific Meeting on Library Science of the Cuban Association of Librarians (ASCUBI), ("Community Library and the 2030 Agenda, UN 2018"), celebrated at the National Library of Cuba José Martí.

With the theme ''The library for the preservation of local identity'', Corvo de Armas presented the project entitled "Children Tell Their Story." With this work, she participated at the 83th International Congress of Librarians, last August in Poland. This cultural project demonstrates the roll of the library in the community and shows that this institution is a pillar of culture. The project materialized in different schools of the municipality such as Le Thi Rieng, Julio Pérez and Julio Antonio Mella; currently, it works with students of the educational center Livia Gouverneu.

The participants hold talks about the local history and its main personalities. They also visit historical monuments. The most outstanding students of the project integrate a Children's Commission of Local History, participating in relevant activities such as the Ariguanabense Culture Week and the International Humor Biennial.
