The participation of women is one of the determining factors in the economic, political and social development of the country. The Federation of Cuban Women (FMC) is working hard to promote community health, according to Belkis Rodríguez Hernández, secretary general of the organization in San Antonio de los Baños.
The FMC, together with other mass organizations, support health programs through the Health Brigades, in different centers. Rodríguez Hernández referred to the activities included in the Basic Training Program, detailing those of the Maternal and Child Program, as well as the promotion and protection tasks in other health programs. A significant element is the involvement of the FMC representatives in the campaign for the prevention of STI / HIV / AIDS, as well as for sexual and reproductive health.
Finally, the secretary pointed out the importance of the FMC basic organizations, and their participation in the Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program and in the Health Debates, among other tasks carried out in each circumscription, such as the Anti-Vector Campaign, where neighbors are warned about the actions for the sanitary control of the disease-transmitting mosquito.
