The Day of the Railway Worker is celebrated on January 29. Gledia Olamendi González, worker of the Railway Station of San Antonio de los Baños, explains us about her role in this institution.
What is your job at the railway station?
I'm in charge of selling the tickets. My work schedule is from 4:30 in the morning until 4:30 in the afternoon.
How long have you been in this work and what is it?
Ten years. My job is to sell tickets to travelers who take this route of transportation, both local and national trains.
What other workers are there at the station?
We are seven workers, a station manager, 2 ticket sellers, a station attendant, 2 custodians and a shelter.
What advantages does this form of transportation have?
This form of transportation is accepted by the people, because the people who work in the capital have a fast route to reach their destination and with affordable prices.
What personal satisfaction does your work provide?
I can tell you that I feel happy, because I give my best every day. I am very proud that each passenger finds here a safe and economical way to travel.
