Cuban children and José Martí

"We work for children, because children are the ones who know how to love, because children are the hope of the world." This well-known phrase of the Apostle summarizes why it is so helpful to work with and for children. José Martí dedicated a lot of time to their fruitful life. In his immense work infants occupy a special place. Those who have golden ages for learning and become special beings, have the power to make things easy because of their way of seeing the world.

In The Golden Age (La Edad de Oro), our National Hero synthesizes a wealth of values that must be part of their personalities. The best way to do it is through stories, verses and stories that bring children to a world of fantasy, reflection and wisdom.

Cuban children know who Marti was. More than a hero, whom we admire and respect for his revolutionary work in the service of the Fatherland, that man took them into account by dedicating part of his work to him through teachings and advice. Listening to the opinions and impressions of children, seeing how they recite their verses with emotion and how they create plastic works based on their imagination, becomes a space to honor the most universal of Cubans.

Every year and every January, José Martí is present in each of the Cuban children. This year, to commemorate the 165th anniversary of his birth, throughout the country tribute is paid to this man who today is more present than ever, especially in those Cuban children who study his work and make it his.
