José Martí, values and new generations

The Cuban National Hero, said: "Only the morality of individuals preserves the splendor of nations ..."

The study of José Martí's life and work means knowing his career as a practical man; example of speaker, poet, journalist, writer, teacher and political leader. He was a vital revolutionary who acted in accordance with the challenges and urgencies imposed by the time in which he lived.

Martí transcends until these times with his own light. His thought and his work, full of authenticity, axiology, culture and education, stand out in the construction of today's society. The ethics of his work, his creativity and his integrated spirit consecrated freedom for Cuba and for Latin America.

An element that characterized José Martí's personality  was his attachment to the moral and spiritual values manifested in his unlimited love to every person, friend or enemy; in its wide struggle for justice and social equity and in its concern for the humble.

The martiano ethical system includes humanism as the set of ideas expressing respect for human dignity. Ethics is the form of conscience that specifically studies morality. Martí points out the integrality among duty, right, truth, honesty, equality, decorum, love, solidarity and work.

Martí was the bearer of a huge culture. He treated the people with perfect knowledge and handled the Spanish language with mastery and extraordinary charm. From Martí's point of view, the formation of every revolutionary must be based on dignity, patriotism, solidarity, responsibility, hard work and others, without forgetting other values that correspond to the ideology of the Cuban people. We must all be better in our daily and future actions.
