The blockade will not impede our development

The US blockade imposed on Cuba is a well-known issue for all Cubans, because for more than 50 years we have been victims of its consequences. This fence is the highest expression of a cruel and inhuman policy, lacking legality and legitimacy, and deliberately designed to cause hunger, disease and despair.

Instead of ending the economic, commercial and financial blockade against the Republic of Cuba, the United States government has maintained its laws, regulations and practices. In addition, political, administrative and repressive mechanisms have continued to be strengthened for more effective and deliberate implementation.

Blockade means to cut, close and isolate to achieve the surrender of the besieged by force or by hunger. The US government has tried to isolate and suffocate the people of Cuba, with the purpose of leading them to give up their decision to be a sovereign and independent country.

The blockade affects education, sports and culture, research and scientific work of students and teachers, as well as the acquisition of raw materials, materials, tools, work tools and sports equipment. It also affects health with the impossibility of acquiring vital medicines, the food industry, science and technology, the sugar industry, tourism, communications and information technology, the construction sector, foreign trade and foreign investment, transport and other sectors, which implement actions to counteract the effect of this unjust and hostile policy.

It is true that the blockade is an obstacle to the full development of the nation, but Cubans have managed to overcome it. Even, we have the support of many nations that condemn it every year in the United Nations Organization. Time has passed and the blockade remains, however Cuba does not bend but seeks solutions.

So, if the Cuban people continue working with the same spirit and optimism to maintain the conquests, under the guidance of our leaders, and the Revolution continues, will there be any blockade that impedes our development?
