Systematic study helps to consolidate knowledge and obtain better academic performance. The work of educators is fundamental in the formation of correct study habits. On this subject, Raiza Posada Santa Cruz, a graduate in Education and a teacher with many years of experience in Primary Education, offered the following interview.
What does studying mean?
Studying is a complex task, through which students assimilate the knowledge that is then applied in a career, at work and in daily life.
What are the ages where the formation of study habits is most effective?
Study habits are formed in the first school that the human being has, the home. However, the first grades of primary education are the most favorable to raise awareness about the need to study.
What elements help children become better students?
It is important to emphasize that young children need constant guidance to develop study habits. Parents and teachers play a decisive role, it is necessary to maintain an organized life time, concentrate on the activity they are doing, read better and prepare for school performance.
Why is it important for students to know the study technique?
Throughout my years of work, I have been able to verify that the children who study, that is, those who have this habit, have better results. It should be noted that each student has its own characteristics. Students who know the study technique receive better acceptance, recognition and stimulation than others. In addition, they carry out their work with quality, take better advantage of free time and generally bring personal, family and student satisfaction.
What do you recommend to achieve an efficient preparation for the exams?
The tests applied as part of the school evaluation are carried out in different ways, whether written, oral or in practical exercises. For all these variants it is important to study what they have learned throughout the semester or course. To overcome the objectives that are evaluated in each subject, it is necessary to start from the accomplishment of the tasks and the systematic study. The consultations with the professors about contents that do not understand or the own exchanges among them also makes it possible.
What is the teachers' work for the formation of correct study habits?
Teachers play an essential role in the formation of study habits. The educator must create awareness to obtain better results, as well as stimulate the students' achievements. Regarding the family, the guidance and preparation they make will also help their children to have a conscious attitude towards the study, since in the long run they will have benefits.
