Since Fidel began at the University of Havana, in September 1945, he was immediately linked to the political struggles of university students and held different responsibilities in the University Student Federation.
He was a prominent member of various progressive and anti-imperialist student organizations such as the Pro-Independence Committee of Puerto Rico, the September 30 Committee and the Dominican Pro-Democracy Committee. He led, from the Sierra Maestra, the struggle to liberate the oppressed Cuba.
In his triumphal entry to Havana, the people understood that Cuba was enlightened. From that moment, it was glimpsed that this man would stop living his own life to live that of his homeland. He always thought of the country before thinking of him. He gave the land to the peasants with the Agrarian Reform and the light of knowledge with the Literacy Campaign.
Today, every Cuban enjoys the benefits of the Revolution. In my opinion, every Cuban worthy of this land must preserve the achievements of this Revolution and of its leader Fidel Castro, a conquest preserved to maintain peace, dignity and integrity of all.
