Saving electricity

In San Antonio de los Baños, different measures are implemented to save electricity. According to the engineer Víctor Ramos Iglesias, director of the Electric Company, at the end of November the energy demanded in the municipality was 8,000 megawatts/hour (MWh), with a turnover of 6,223 MWh.

The director revealed that the highest consumption was reached in the residential sector with 2600 MWh and in the state sector with 1964. In comparison with the month of October, the municipality decreased energy consumption by 33 MWh, which represents less than 1 percent. In order to implement the savings policy, a measure was taken to supervise that state and private high consumption entities do not produce during peak hours, between 5pm and 7pm. For example, pump stations, bakeries, private farmers with tariff M3-B, among others. In the case of companies, the corresponding regulation exists and until now the plan is fulfilled.

Hence, a call is made to the population to maintain electricity savings and thus contribute to the national electric power system. In every home and workplace, it must prevail that ''saving is consuming only what is necessary''.
