The maternal child health indicators show that the Maternal and Child Program (PAMI) continues to consolidate in San Antonio de los Baños for the benefit of children and families, said Dr. Yamilé Borrego Morales, head of the Department of Health Care at the Health Directorate.
One of the achievements of the program is the zero infant mortality rate maintained by the program since 2015. Similarly, maternal death has been at this value for about 5 years. These achievements are among the most important of the PAMI and represent the profiling work that is performed with pregnant women before, during and after delivery.
Borrego Morales highlighted that, among other actions, the promotion of breastfeeding and the availability of the human milk bank at the Iván Portuondo hospital have contributed to these achievements. He also referred to the work that is done from the basic health groups in each family doctor's office.
Finally, the doctor said that among the projections of work for next year is to continue with these results, which place the municipality in an important place and show the work of doctors, nurses, specialists and other actors involved in this task.
