The Ariguanabo Martiano Forest, site of National Excellence in Urban and Suburban Agriculture in San Antonio de los Baños held an activity named "Christmas Count", directed by Giraldo Alayón. A group of specialists and the children of the Guardians of Nature Project were present. This event was carried out at a global level and had the purpose of counting the migratory birds of the Caribbean area.
The Ariguanabo Martiano Forest was selected as the venue for the event due to the tradition of this site in the rescue and protection of the environment. Doctor of Science Giraldo Alayón, a faithful defender of the flora and fauna of our Ariguanabo, works together with a group of specialists from the ''Amigos del Río'' Club to rescue the existing biodiversity in our mountain and transmits his experiences to the new and old generations of ariguanabenses in search of preserving our natural treasure.
