According to the head of Livestock of the Agricultural Enterprise of the territory, Elio Pino Rodríguez, there are several principles that producers take into account for the welfare of animals, these are: good nutrition in a favorable environment, optimal health and proper behavior.
Among the factors for food safety are the environmental and handling conditions to which the animals are subjected, since these products are destined for human consumption. Pino Rodríguez emphasized that the animals must have the corresponding water supply, as well as the maintenance of the living conditions so that they do not suffer physical injuries.
Pastures and forages are the fundamental food for livestock. Among the actions to ensure animal feed is the planting of forage (kingrass and cane), protein plants and cultivated pastures, as well as manual cutting of undesirable plants, which improves the availability of food.
