Good sexual health offers the possibility of living sexuality as an important dimension in life. Each one has personal satisfactions, with the capacity to enjoy, give and receive with respect towards the other person; always with the responsibility to assume possible risks.
The Health Department of San Antonio de los Baños carries out actions with the aim of preventing sexually transmitted infections. According to Crucelda Estrada Guerra, public health officer in charge of Prevention and Health Promotion in the municipality, assuming responsible sexual behavior means maintaining a lifestyle based on love, feelings, mutual understanding and respect, so as to avoid behaviors that can cause serious consequences for health.
She added that not all people have risk perception of sexually transmitted diseases and assume improper behavior. For this reason, a series of strategies are directed to educate the population on these issues, which are widely disseminated. Estrada Guerra highlighted that film-debates and workshops are held, with the purpose of establishing productive debates among young people, a sector that needs greater orientation. On the other hand, mass organizations such as the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR) and the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC) support this work from the communities to provide information on STIs and HIV / AIDS.
Among the most outstanding topics are the use of condoms, the training of health promoters, young people and STIs, methods for the recognition and diagnosis of these diseases, among others.
