San Antonio de los Baños, Artemisa, Cuba.- Ariguanabo authorities trace actions included in the 2016-2020 Environmental Strategy, according to the characteristics of the territory.
The strategy is part of the 4 year period and its implementation will be carried out through annual programs, to facilitate the constant adaptation of environmental goals in correspondence with the demands of politics, economy and society in the territory.
According to the head of the section of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment (CITMA) in San Antonio de los Baños, María del Carmen López Báez, for the development of this strategy was made a diagnosis of the environment in the territory, which serves to define objectives and priorities on which the work will focus during the implementation period.
This strategy has the mission of directing the Environmental Policy in the municipality, characterizing the main problems and proposing ways to prevent or solve it, with a view to improving the protection of the environment, the rational use of natural resources and adaptation to effects of climate change, in order to achieve the goals of a sustainable economic-social development.
The environmental specialist, Pedro González Conde, is in charge of preparing the plan with the main actions and goals to be achieved during the year, considering the approved economic projections and the indications and methodologies that are issued.
The development strategy in favor of the environment includes the general characterization of San Antonio de los Baños, the main environmental problems, the projection and strategic objectives, the actions and goals up to 2020, the management of natural resources, as well as the instruments of policy and environmental management.
