According to the historian of our Villa, Jose Miguel Delgado, Did you know that San Antonio de los Baños fits perfectly in the surroundings of the marvelous real?
I tell you: Pedro Rodríguez García (Peroga), one of the founders of the Pro Cine Ariguanabo Asociación, affirmed that our locality is an example of the ''Marvelous Real'', due to the friendly characters and the events that took place here. I give you some examples: Raul Calvo became a correspondence pilot, Quevedo invented a heated sweater and was making a rocket to travel to the moon.
Here I bring you some local curiosities and events transmitted orally over the years.
According to José Miguel Delgado, our current historian, in 1922 the governor of the province visited our city, where he was received by the mayor Mariano Porto, the councilmen and the head of the Municipal Police. After touring the main streets and before the farewell banquet, they took the visitor for a walk along the Ariguanabo River.
The trip extended to know the Ceiba and the Cave of the Sumidero. Here the governor, grateful for the attentions given by his hosts, promised that he would donate a gondola for the river. At that moment, the police chief said satisfied: and I'm going to offer a gondolo for breeding.
