In San Antonio de los Baños schools work in the formation of men and women who think, feel and act in correspondence with what society demands. The educational system raises the need for the school not only to be a place to transmit and teach knowledge, but also a place where you learn to live together and respect; where moral norms, attitudes and values are basic objectives in the educational process of the new generations.
According to the director of the Domingo Lence Novo elementary school, Nancy Arrazcaeta Rodríguez, the work for the formation of values is planned from the "Martiana Chair" and later in methodological meetings, where is determined the value to be prioritized each month and its forms of work. This work is done through analysis, conversations, complementary activities and dramatizations. It is also included in different subjects, depending on the content.
On the other hand, the director pointed out the role played by the family and the community in this process of formation of values. Children learn by example, therefore, teaching moral values involves a personal commitment.
The teaching of moral values begins at home, promoted by the example of parents and other adults; later, these values are expanded and strengthened at school.
