In San Antonio de los Baños, a considerable group of people are members of the Association of People with Physical and Motor Disabilities (ACLIFIM), the Association of the Blind (ANCI) and the Association of Deaf (ANSOC). These organizations are in charge of integrating people with physical and motor disabilities into a socially useful life with equal rights and opportunities and full access to work, study, sport and cultural and recreational activities.
According to the head of the brigade, Reinier Suárez Diago, at the Special Workshop for People with Disabilities ‘’Primero de Enero’’ work around 32 people with different limitations like blind, deaf, dumb and people with physical and motor disabilities. The objective of this center is the manufacture of household objects such as carpets, acid to clean bathrooms and office supplies.
Suárez Diago also stated that the preparation and completion of productions promotes the active participation of its members with equal freedoms and possibilities in the economic and social development of the locality. He also highlighted the work of local cultural institutions such as the Municipal Museum, the Municipal Library, the Martiano Forest, the House of Culture and others who are concerned to raise the knowledge of these people and contribute to their recreation.
