The prevention of sexually transmitted diseases (ITS) in the territory is one of the premises of the specialists of the Public Health System, with the aim of sensitizing and providing the necessary information. The specialist of the Municipal Health Department, Dr. Miladis Gutiérrez Millo, pointed out that in each health area there is a promoter responsible for carrying out actions on these diseases and safe sex, through tours by schools and campings.
The work begins at the family doctor's office identifying the risk groups and guiding the complementary analyzes to verify the presence or not of the infection. One of the advantages is that the diagnosis is made in our municipality. The doctor insisted on the importance of the Consultation of Decentralization provided in the Specialty Polyclinic. Socio-cultural activities also help prevention: the projection of didactic videos, the promotion of books related to the subject and the announcements and posters.
Gutiérrez Millo highlighted the work carried out by mass organizations such as the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution CDR and the Federation of Cuban Women FMC, as well as the propaganda of Radio Ariguanabo that contribute to the promotion and education for sexual health.
