The Cuban woman was always an essential member during the struggles of our people. Our history has many examples: Mariana Grajales, Candelaria Figueredo, Melba Hernández, Haydée Santamaría, Celia and Vilma Espín.
In spite of this, the humble woman was destined for years to be a housewife or to be condemned to prostitution, because she had no other options to earn money. The Revolution ended the discrimination to which they were subjected and worked unceasingly to incorporate them into the tasks of society.
Fidel always had in mind the Cuban woman, whom he considered a pillar in each of the social, cultural and educational revolutions that took place in our country. Fidel talked a lot about women and always defended for them a seat in Parliament, in management positions and even in military life.
Cuban women have imposed themselves in every possible way, thanks to emancipatory work and gender equality. They have a unique and renewing force capable of moving everything they find in their way, because as the Commander said: "Women are a Revolution within the Revolution."
