The Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR) constitute the largest mass organization of the country. Its fundamental task has always been revolutionary vigilance. This organization supports all the Revolution's tasks, such as vaccination campaigns, health debates, the collection of raw materials, the homage to comrades who fulfilled internationalist mission...
Today the organization is in the process of the 9th Congress of Accountability Reports to the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC). In addition, executives are being set up at the CDR and zone level, for the sake of better functioning and to strengthen the revolutionary unity. According to Isaac Leyva, municipal coordinator of the CDRs in San Antonio de los Baños, no crime has occurred in the territory. When negative manifestations occur in some area of the municipality, the first thing to do is to study the characteristics of the place and the situation that motivated it. We must be prepared to clarify any situation.
The main function is to process to the Council of the Municipal Administration and to the Municipal Assembly of People's Power the dissatisfactions of the population. Sometimes materials are needed to solve a problem and the people need a response. Here begins the work of the delegates.
One of the most important tasks in which we are involved is the campaign against the mosquito. It is worth mentioning that workers from different sectors of society live in the neighborhood: doctors, engineers, housewives, workers and others, who through dialogue can help eradicate any problem. So that no negative manifestations arise in the municipality, there are exchanges with the population in the neighborhood-debate and audiences, where they talk to the people, in order to give them the answer or solution they deserve.
