San Antonio de los Baños, Artemisa, Cuba.- In this municipality, various activities are coordinated to protect the Ariguanabo River. The celebration of the World Environment Day, 2017, has the theme "Connecting people to nature". The ''Friends of the River'' Group and the Municipal Directorate of Education, Culture and Sport promote the protection and preservation of the geographic affluent that identifies us.
In Ariguanabo actions are developed with the aim of sensitizing all the villagers in the responsibility of caring for the environment, especially the river. The Museum of Humor annually invites primary and secondary school students to participate in the "For a Better World" competition. Through drawing, painting and literature, the participants refer to the protection of the Earth, seas, rivers, soils, atmosphere, as well as to the awareness on the cleaning, sanitation and care of the river and natural resources.
Representatives of different sectors of the population join and advance in the effort to change the image of the river. To this end, the Ariguanabense University Center will develop a course with the theme: Municipal Environmental Development. In addition, the "Guardians of Nature" Group works to conserve the biodiversity of the Ariguanabo River ecosystem as a protected natural landscape.
