The true artist always embodies an indeclinable pedagogical vocation. It is not enough to create, but also to transmit experiences and energies in order to reach higher dimensions in terms of creation.
This is the example of the ariguanabense Rodolfo Chacón, tenor of the National Opera of Cuba and teacher of singing in prestigious academies of the country. Rodolfo made countless tours in Cuba and in other countries. He worked with Alina Sánchez, Adolfo Casas, María Eugenia Barrios, María Esther Pérez and the masters Rodrigo Prats and Rafael Somavilla, among others. In 2000, he founded a community cultural work project, which the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC) encouraged from the beginning. In love with the Bell song and in general of the music, he directed a group of children and young people through the paths of art, cubanism, patriotism and ethics.
Not only amateurs with talent and aptitude, but also adolescents and children with special educational needs found in the singing an alternative of personal development and social integration. Several generations have participated in his courses and workshops. Several of his students are part of the Teatro Lírico and other companies in the country; others study at the Higher Art Institute (ISA). Parents, family and friends, who followed the activities of the project, formed a lover and connoisseur audience of the best cuban music, able to interact and fill his classes, presentations and concerts with emotion. His soul and his effort contribute to sustain that movement, known today as "La Dulce Quimera" (The Sweet Chimera), National Prize of Cultural Community Work in 2009.
Those words that I said to Rodolfo Chacón became the name of the project ''La Dulce Quimera'' would not be an unrealistic illusion, but an increasingly precious and vital reality. There are no secrets: sweetness is humanism, beauty and kindness; chimera is an arduous road to happiness.
