No one becomes a poet. Every society keeps, among its memories, these great men or women who push the poetry in frank challenge or provocation because it accompanies us and comes like a burst to move us. One can become a writer, but being a poet goes beyond, an artist must be endowed with the fine sensitivity that translates the fibers of the heart, intelligence and grandiloquence to penetrate the intimacy of the collective in the supreme eagerness that art Should serve life. Poetry is music, sound, lightning, fire, perfume, tender caress and warm embrace. To live with poetry means to find the way and surprise ourselves reciting aloud.

The poet's duty is to take the sacred fire and transform it into songs to give it to others. Poets, from words, come to be soldiers and suddenly become dangerous to governments that pretend to silence the voice of the humiliated, because poems have more power than many weapons; they carry the power of consciousness. Guns kill people, ideas remain.

Poetry is the expression of the poet's spirituality. Words can change the world, the complicity of the poet with the human sensibility makes bridges among men.
