It is difficult to understand the term of social justice. The reality of the planet is another. Cuba is a privileged country. The historical memory gathers the correct guide of the historical leader Fidel Castro that represents the light for Cuba, Latin America and the Third World. Cubans have learned the lesson. The peace conquered on January 1, 1959 allowed us to change social reality.
Today two worlds coexist: that of abundance and blindness and that of the harsh reality of helplessness, forgetfulness and scarcity. I think there is a strong relationship between social development and social justice, on the one hand, and peace and security on the other. Both can not exist separately.
Nowadays, voices are added in favor of social justice, but the cry still falls into the void. There is no guarantee of a global platform for the prospects of advancement that equates the reality of disadvantaged peoples, the result of the development of the economy, the limited possession of financial resources and, above all, the possibility of being actors of their destiny from the status of exploited countries. This is the worst cause.
UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon said in 2010: "On World Day of Social Justice we recognize the importance of the fight against poverty, exclusion and unemployment, in order to promote solidarity, harmony and equality of opportunity within and among societies themselves ... we reflect on the importance of social justice to forge a more stable, equitable and secure world."
We agree, therefore, that little has been achieved to date since social justice is based on the values of equity, equality, respect for diversity, access to social protection and the application of human rights in all spheres of life. Social justice is a fundamental principle for peaceful and prosperous coexistence, within and among countries. For the United Nations, the pursuit of universal social justice represents the core of its mission in promoting development and human dignity.
Fidel claimed to preserve the planet. It is necessary to multiply his voice if we want to create sustainable prosperity, if we seek to improve human well-being and social equity. We need to significantly reduce environmental risks, a new vision of the economy and the world, adapted to the new conditions that we face, so he advocated so many times for the saving and efficient use of natural resources.
The celebration of the World Day of Social Justice seeks to support the work of the international community to eradicate poverty and promote employment and decent work, gender equality and access to well-being and social justice for all.
