Climate, good practices and production

Photo internetPhoto internet One hundred and sixty farms, classified by the National Association of Small Farmers (ANAP) in San Antonio de los Baños, work for the development and management of sustainable agricultural systems.

Over the past few years, the territory has developed strategies to reduce the effects of climate change related to drought, abundant rains and temperature variation. Ariguanabense producers face these problems implementing methods related to poly culture in the areas of planting, transverse grooves, intercropping and association of crops and sowing in level curves. At the same time, they reduce vulnerabilities through good agricultural practices such as animal traction, the use of biological means and organic fertilizers to promote crop quality and prevent soil mistreatment.

Another alternative put into practice is the innovation made by producers and advised by specialists from their experiences in the rest of the country. They are ways in favor of the good harvest; work to which peasants, innovation and environment are united.
