Polyclinics and family doctor offices in San Antonio de los Baños are ready to begin, the first stage of the 56th National Anti-Polio Vaccination Campaign to take place this month. On this occasion, children between 30 days of birth and two years 11 months and 29 days will be immunized. They will be vaccinated again in the second stage of the campaign.
Medical authorities in our territory remind the population that this immunogenic should not be given to children with a high fever, vomiting or diarrhea and must wait 30 minutes before and after vaccination, to ingest water or food. Nor should it be used in immunodeficient children. They also confirm that the vaccine against poliomyelitis is very harmless, without great contraindications or adverse effects, so that all mothers should immunize their babies without fear.
The National Anti-Polio Vaccination Campaign began in our country in 1962. Since then to date no cases of the terrible disease have been reported, thanks to the work of our state and its authorities.
