Cubans are extroverted, cheerful, witty, original. The origins of the street cry date back to colonial times. That traditional method inspired great Cuban musicians by the characteristic rhythm and tone of the interpreters.
The street cries are expressions of the popular slang. They fill with grace the atmosphere and the merchandise circulates with their personal characteristics to give promotion to the sale. The street criers walk always with the smile on their faces. They impose a singular stamp. They have the firm intention of falling in love and getting them to buy something and I say more, sometimes they have the most unusual goods, including the poison for the mother-in-law... no, no, do not be ashamed... it is a joke to attract people in their stubborn way of selling. Some of them mark the time with their modulated voice, defying the climatic conditions.
Restless merchants, in their daily endeavor to attract the customer and sell, are protagonists of a centenarian custom that at this moment revitalizes with brushstrokes of humor that undoubtedly, it is inserted to the development of the society and maintains the vitality with the step of the years.
Today other types of merchandise are added to which the musical merchant adds new nuances and elements of contemporaneity and thus, the street cry is still alive.
