The Knight of the time

Enrique Rodriguez de la OsaEnrique Rodriguez de la Osa My Knight of the time; today is your birthday and I want to give you this chronicle. He shows white hair, some cracks in his skin and small gaps in memory when he tries to recall anecdotes of baseball, but in spite of everything, he is a Don Quixote of this century and I love him, I adore him.

This gentleman taught me the best manners. He taught me to go with austerity, respect and simplicity through life. He enjoys my successes and suffers for my failures. He never loses the word of encouragement when things do not go well and the wise advice to continue struggling. Such is my knight of the time, my friend. The Caupolicán who more than once faced death and also overcame it.

My knight of the time is seventy years old; many of them dedicated to baseball, his favorite love. As a child he used to run away from school to go to the stadium. He was not a journalist or an engineer, but he is a true architect of life. My knight of the time is fortunate to have the respect of the people and popular recognition for his wisdom on baseball rules.

Now he spents his time talking with some friends and enjoying baseball on television and radio. Every Sunday he shares with this humble chronicler, who feels the immense pride of being his son. Thank you, my knight! Enjoy these seventy springs. I will be in the same place, as always, contemplating his experiences, pampering his whims, making any of his wishes come true. Congratulations, my father!
