Municipal assemblies of People's Power

Assemblies of Peoples' PowerAssemblies of Peoples' Power The third proces of presenting accountability reports by municipal delegates to their constituents begins throughout the country; a process in which delegates achieve a high level of prominence. The first elections, after the triumph of the Cuban Revolution, were held in 1976. Leaders of the municipal assemblies of People's Power were elected. In all the electoral processes that have taken place since 1976, more than 95 percent of voters has been involved.

These meetings constitute a moment of reaffirmation of the political system of the island and moment of fruitful dialogues between representatives of the people (Delegates) and their constituents, so stated the President of the Cuban Parliament, Esteban Lazo Hernandez. He explained that peoples’ proposals must be heard and duly explained.

This process constitutes a genuine sample of the Cuban democratic system. Delegates presents their management to address the most pressing problems present in neighborhoods and communities. For that very reason delegates are elected: to represent the people at the Municipal Assemblies of People's Power.
