Opportunities women deserve

In today's society it is highly valued the role of women, unlike past centuries when they lived under the shadow of men. Cuba's empowerment is strengthening and our country excels in this aspect. Much has to do the Cuban Women Federation (FMC), an organization that brings together the female sector nationwide and strives to ponder its role.

In San Antonio de los Baños, the municipal direction of the FMC develops different courses as part of training programs. According to statements by Belkis Rodriguez Hernandez, General Secretary of the organization in Ariguanabo, this initiative aims to guide and prepare women in various trades, since in the town self-employment is strengthening. In recent years, some courses stand out: hairdressing and makeup, executive secretary, body massage and trade and gastronomy workshops. Ariguanabo Radio approached Yania Concepción Dominguez, a young woman who value the good results of these courses.

How did you come to this alternative that the FMC promotes?

The Federation used local media, the news spread and some candidates presented. It is valid to recognize that the FMC always explains that these programs are for the family in general.

What course did you choose?

Well, the first time I came here I chose craftwork. The experience was very good and when I knew that a course in makeup and hairdressing would begin I registered. Since I am a makeup artist and a hairdresser my life has improved, I am independent.

What do you think about these training programs?

I have the best of the views. We have to appreciate that it is a comprehensive training. Educational talks delt with issues like self-esteem and health among others. So describes this excellent professional who attended training programs offered by the FMC in San Antonio de los Baños and throughout Cuba. An initiative that enhances the role of women in a world that must recognize this sector. Social recognition and opportunities that they really deserve.
