Social discipline: duty and responsibility of all

Work on improving social discipline is a duty of all. Currently while some blame the people, others consider government’s responsability. Personally I think both are right, but what really matters is how we are going to face and solve the problem.

Misconduct in the neighborhood, social indisciplines, crimes and illegalities are the result of a set of negative elements ranging from family upbringing, education process to economic and social context of each country. It is worth remembering that these problems are not exclusively of Cuba, only that cuban government is concerned about it and then highlights facts that for many nations are conveniently invisible.

I was born in 1989, so I had not the opportunity to know the so-called special period in Cuba, but my generation knows enough of the subject, now I share with you this text belonging to the publication ‘’Cubahora’’, quote: "The criminal activities and complexity were increased in the 90s in the country, and we know that the acute economic crisis of those years was the trigger for robberies, damage to the economy, theft and slaughter of cattle, among other crimes, which remain in our society and to which the National Revolutionary Police and other bodies confront".

It is an approach to the genesis of the current problem. It is necessary to clarify that the situation of Cuba today is significantly better than that of the last decade of the twentieth century. The text continues, quote: "The impact of the global economic crisis and the US embargo to our land, insufficient control and protection of state assets and weaknesses in the mechanisms of prevention, among other factors, affect crimines that even exist in the country, to which illegalities and social indiscipline are added". I would like to add the fact that these illegalities and indiscipline were causes of a given context and as I explained above they happen in all societies and in all political systems but it doesn’t mean they are justifiables.

Right answer

Talk of a successful response to this situation becomes difficult and even seems a highly optimistic phrase. On July 7th, 2013 the top leadership of the country, in the person of the President of the Councils of State and Ministers, Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, stressed the need to combat these actions that tarnish our society. Since then the responsible entities joined forces with their energies to analyze the national situation and develop strategies for its confrontation.

There are several initiatives to respond to social indiscipline. It stands out the multisectorial work where family, communities, educational and labor centers must agree. Coincide organizations of national impact as the CDR and the FMC. Another interesting initiative is the proposal made by the Association of Combatants of the Cuban Revolution in Holguín, in response to response to crime and social indiscipline, in addition to the political and ideological work with the groups inclined to commit irregularities or children as a priority sector.

It's not about to blame or judge anyone, but to create awareness among citizens and the state. When our children learn to be socially disciplined, we may think of a better future. We must not forget that this task is the duty and responsibility of all.
